In a recent article on WebMD.com, medical experts discussed six anti-aging breakthrough technologies. Number two on the list? Wrinkle injections, or should we say anti-wrinkle injections.
A lot less expensive than traditional facelifts, wrinkle injection fillers – aka dermal fillers – can target and fill facial lines and wrinkles in under 30 minutes and the effects can last anywhere from four months to up to a year, in some cases.
Injectable dermal fillers including Juvederm, Radiesse, and Restylane have been around for a while and they have been effective in helping reduce wrinkles without the need for surgery. However, new studies have shown that wrinkle injections containing hyaluronic acid such as Restylane and Juvederm can stimulate collagen production and at the same time interfere with collagen breakdown.
So not only do you benefit from wrinkle reduction as a result of a Juvaderm or Restylane dermal fill, but you may also benefit from increased collagen production, which helps to maintain your skin’s texture and resilience.
What About Botox?
Injectable fillers are different from Botox treatments. Botox relaxes the muscles under the skin whereas fillers pump up and add volume in order to fill out the wrinkles and smooth the skin giving it a youthful vigor. Depending on your particular situation, your doctor will be able to help you determine which treatment will be most effective.
